Clinical Experience of Ureteroscopic Stone Extraction

Abstract
A total of 43 patients with ureteral stone was treated with rigid ureteroscope. The total success rate was 90% and the success rate was not influenced by stone size. The procedure was not influenced by stone size. The procedure was performed in
34
patients under spinal anesthesia, 6 patients under general anesthesia and 3 patients under local anesthesia with sedation. Complications were colic or pain in 4 cases and false passage in 2 cases but were managed successfully with conservative
treatment. In most cases, ureteroscopy was performed with 4Fr. Ureteral catheter through side hole, It was helpful for improving visual field and prevented the ureteral injury during procedure as it worked like a guide wire. Although ESWL has
emerged as
the most accepted method for noninvasive treatment of urinary calculi, ureteroscopy seems to be useful for ureteral stone extraction continuously as a safety and cheap method.
